How are points calculated?

An example might be...
A Club finishes 3rd in a 17 boat regatta.  The third place finisher is awarded 87 points (see the Yellow Cell) out of the maximum number of points attainable - 97 for first place (see the Green Cell).  Divide the number of points awarded by the maximum number of points attainable in that regatta.  This is the number of points that this club receives for that regatta.

As the year progresses and this club sails in more events, add the total number of points awarded to that club and divide that by the total number of points that they could have possibly attained in those regattas only to get the new cumulative total.

Once the club has sailed more than 7 events, only use the best 7 regattas to calculate a new total.
