April 24: This week each
GYA General Member Yacht Club will receive a questionnaire from the
GYA Ad Hoc Committee. The Ad Hoc Committee is commissioned to
interview all GYA member clubs to obtain input as to the sense of
the overall need of each member club as it relates to the future of
Capdevielle competition. We are sending a questionnaire to each
club’s Commodore, GYA Coordinator, One Design Rep. and Junior Chair
and would ask that they each talk to members of their clubs and
submit ONE
questionnaire back to the Ad Hoc Committee. Please have the club
Commodore sign the bottom and return it to the address on the bottom
of the questionnaire preferably by May 3, 2012, or bring it to the
GYA Annual Meeting May 5, 2012 at Buccaneer Yacht Club. Please have
all questionnaires returned by May 31, 2012.

Mobile Yacht Club is now
accepting applications for Head and Assistant Sailing Instructors for
the Summer 2012 classes. Interested persons should submit a resume to
manager@mobileyachtclub.org
It’s time for the GYA Opening Regatta and I want
to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all the GYA
membership to attend the Opening at Buccaneer Yacht Club May 5 & 6,
2012. Buccaneer Yacht Club is planning a great event.
Remember, Buccaneer Yacht Club is hosting the
Spring Regatta in two weeks, May 19 & 20, 2012. This is an excellent
opportunity to store your Flying Scott, save on traveling cost and
be ahead of the game for the Spring Regatta.
The Winter meeting became a work horse event with
the Board of Directors setting up several changes to the Bylaws and
tasking the EXCOM to begin the process for looking at a new GYA
Capdevielle boat.
The Board of Directors meeting at the Opening
will be a great time to catch up on what is happening, renew old and
new friendships, and enjoy sailing. I will be giving you an update
along with other items since the Winter meeting.
Please remember, the EXCOM is here to serve you
and we look forward to having input on upcoming issues both from
individual members and GYA Clubs.
