GALLOWAY SUNFISH / LASER REGATTA

(A GYA Championship)

     August 4th – 5th, 2007

1 RULES

The regatta will be governed by the current revision of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), by the current prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, by the rules of the United States Sunfish Class Association / International Laser Class Association / United States Optimist Dinghy (except as any of those are change by the sailing instructions.

 

2 CHANGES TO THE RULES

The sailing instructions will change some of the racing rules; however, competitors will be able to comply with the changes without advance notice of their nature.

 

3 ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY

3.1 The Galloway Regatta is open to boats of the Sunfish/Laser/ Laser Radial/Optimist classes.  However, the Charles R. Galloway Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the top finisher in the Sunfish Class from a Gulf Yachting Association member club.

3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form at the registration desk during the times set forth in the Schedule of Events.   An entry fee will not be charged FOR THE SUNFISH AND LASER CLASSES. OPTIMIST & Laser Radial WILL HAVE A FEE OF $25 PER BOAT.

5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Sailing Instructions will be made available at the registration desk at the Gulfport Yacht Club.

 

6 COURSES

In general, courses will either be Triangles or Windward/Leeward courses.

 

7 Scoring

 

The Low-Point Scoring System, Appendix A4 of the racing rules, will apply, with seven (7) races scheduled of which one (1) shall be completed to constitute a series.  If six races are completed there will be a throwout.
